Fire Watch
"FireWatch" is designed for children and their parents. It is an informal presentation that is both exciting and entertaining. In addition to day-to-day situations like structural fires, the program deals with special issues such as wild land blazes and hazardous materials incidents. Most importantly, the viewing audience, both young and old, will learn about the broad range of services provided by departments throughout the United States and Canada. As a learning tool, "FireWatch" also provides families with important information dealing with home fire safety. Topics include home fire drills, escape techniques, placement of smoke detectors and the use of carbon monoxide detectors. After viewing the program, younger family members can become "FireWatch" Rangers by conducting a home fire inspection and filling out a safety checklist. A sixteen page activity book is available, which reinforces the message of the television program. |
